There are several opportunities to participate in the CADC. Whether you are interested in volunteering, joining as an individual or corporate member, sponsoring a program, or simply attending one our events, contact us, and we’ll make it happen.
There are also opportunities to get involved in a leadership capacity within the CADC:
Board of Directors
Responsibilities & Requirements
Policy
- to make a final determination and vote on the strategic plan for the California Diversity Council and evaluate the California Diversity Council’s performance in accomplishing its mission on an annual basis;
- to review, discuss and vote on program committee guidelines, and to vote on all grant submissions for funding; to develop policies for the operation of the program committees
Personnel
- to determine performance standards, and evaluate performance of the Executive Director on an annual basis;
- to review and approve personnel policies
- to recruit corporate members
Financial
- to pay membership dues and other California Diversity Council financial commitments in a timely manner.
Attendance & Participation
- to attend regularly scheduled Board meetings and/or conference calls. The frequency of meetings and/or conference calls can be adjusted, as appropriate to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined above.
- to participate in all California Diversity Council events as a sponsor, planning committee member, volunteer, and/or attendee
- to serve on a committee
Executive Team/Advisory Board
This is the hands-on leadership team that helps get things done within the California Diversity Council. These are highly visible roles within our organization and can help us make a real impact in our community. Each executive leadership role is a two year term. The following positions is represented in each individual California CADC chapter:
- President
- Vice President
- Recording Secretary
- Financial Secretary
Qualifications
- Must possess an understanding of the value of diversity and inclusion
- Must have a track record of involvement in the community and/or as a champion of diversity within other organizations
- Must be committed to the vision and mission of the California Diversity Council
- Must have company commitment and support
- Must be a highly connected individual who is not shy about networking and spreading the word about the CADC
Committee Chairs
What it takes.
Committee chair positions are a minimum of one year terms. As chair of one of the following committees, you’ll lead a team of volunteers to meet specific quarterly and annual goals. Each chair provides:
- provides monthly written and verbal updates to the CADC via in-person and/or conference-call and email.
- schedules meetings with his or her committee a minimum of once per month to direct and guide your team to achieve it’s specific goals.
- commits to an anticipated minimum of between 3-5 hours each month.
Events & Activities Chair
This individual is responsible for leading the volunteers of the Events Committee. Defines and delegates responsibilities to ensure that all CADC events are exceptional events – on time, on budget, and news worthy. The Chair of the Events and Activities creates the CADC’s annual events calendar, identifies and secures speakers, organizes the volunteers, secures venues, and organizes all processes and vendors related to each event.
Purpose: identify and plan activities and events in support of the Council’s Vision, Mission, and Goals such as:
- Diversity Council Meetings
- Diversity Luncheons
- Diversity Symposiums (i.e. Women’s Symposium)
- Board Retreats/Meetings
- Community Involvement
- Other Programs
Communications Chair
Responsible for internal and external communications which includes CADC Chair drives all membership, marketing and PR efforts in support of CADC membership goals. In addition, to owning all CADC marketing materials including:
- Website
- Newsletters
- Press Releases
- Email Blasts
- Social Media (Facebook, LinkedIn, blog, etc.)
- Communications develops new concepts and strategies to promote and brand the CADC. Executes on annual marketing and PR initiatives as outlined by the CADC.
Purpose: Provide consistent, continuous, and timely information about the Council’s activities to our internal and external constituents including supporting the communications needs of the Education Committee and the Events & Activities Committee.
Membership Chair
Drives and tracks all membership including individual and corporate membership. Works with Communications Chair to develop material to acquire new members and on-boarding package to welcome new members.

Purpose: Attract, retain, and increase the membership of the Council. The activities that could be included in this committee are:
- Supporting the recruitment of Individual and Corporate Members
- Retaining current members and getting them more involved
- Increasing Awareness of the council and presenting the business case.
Education Chair
Identify and provide training opportunities for CADC’s internal membership and external clients. Develop information and forums to enhance appreciation for and understanding of the value of diversity and inclusion. Develop and implement initiatives/programs in support of the Council’s Vision, Mission, and Goals. Often partners with the Events & Activities Chair to coordinate education themed or education-based activities and events. The following activities could be included in this committee.

Purpose: Enhance appreciation for and understanding of the value of diversity and inclusion.
Partnering Chair
Plans, coordinates, and monitors business activities in support of the CADC’s Vision, Mission, and Goals. The following activities could be included in this committee.

Purpose: Provide the administrative grounding needed to fund, develop and support CADC committee initiatives.
